Charaka Samhita is one of the principal classical texts of Ayurveda that lays the foundation for understanding Ayurvedic concepts of health, disease, diagnosis, and treatment. This course introduces students to the philosophy, structure, and scientific principles described in the Samhita, with emphasis on Sutra Sthana, Nidana Sthana, Vimana Sthana, Sharira Sthana, Indriya Sthana, Chikitsa Sthana, and Siddhi Sthana.
Students will study the theories of Tridosha, Dhatu, Mala, Agni, Srotas, and Prakriti, as well as the methods of diagnosis, prevention, and management of diseases as explained by Acharya Charaka. The course also focuses on the ethical conduct of a physician (Vaidya Dharma), the principles of drug formulation, and the holistic approach to patient care.
By the end of the course, students will gain a deep understanding of Ayurvedic fundamentals, clinical reasoning based on classical principles, and the relevance of Charaka Samhita in modern health practice.
